Attendance for Vaccinated Individuals, Including New Travel Updates 3/9

Last week, Governor Cuomo announced that New York will no longer require domestic travelers to quarantine, as long as they are within 90 days of full vaccination. As a result, those fully-vaccinated individuals who travel domestically can attend services at Beth El without the need to quarantine. For the benefit of those who did not see our previous announcements regarding vaccination, our attendance policies for fully-vaccinated individuals, including the new travel rules, are as follows:

  • A fully-vaccinated, asymptomatic person may enter Beth El and attend services, even if (s)he has been exposed to a COVID-positive person;
  • An individual who displays COVID symptoms, even if fully vaccinated, is not allowed to enter Beth El for 10 days following symptom onset, unless that person tests negative for COVID and is symptom free for 24 hours; and,
  • A domestic traveler who is fully vaccinated can enter Beth El following her/his return to New York. An international traveler must continue to quarantine for 10 days, regardless of vaccination status, and should comply with this requirement before entering Beth El.

Please note that this update only applies to fully-vaccinated individuals, and begins two weeks after a person’s final vaccine.  Furthermore, everyone entering Beth El must continue to complete the medical questionnaire in order to enter the synagogue, regardless of vaccination status.

Update on Synagogue Attendance for Vaccinated Individuals 2/26

As COVID vaccines become increasingly available, we are thankful that more people in our community are able to get vaccinated.  The following update is in response to a number of questions we have received about how vaccination affects the ability of an individual to attend services at Beth El. Please note that this update only applies to fully-vaccinated individuals, and begins two weeks after a person’s final vaccine.  Furthermore, everyone entering Beth El must continue to complete the medical questionnaire in order to enter the synagogue, regardless of vaccination status.

Beth El continues to follow the protocols of the New York State Department of Health, which has recently modified quarantine guidelines for fully-vaccinated individuals.  As a result of current State guidelines, Beth El’s policies for vaccinated individuals are as follows:

  • A fully-vaccinated, asymptomatic person may enter Beth El and attend services, even if (s)he has been exposed to a COVID-positive person;
  • An individual who displays COVID symptoms, even if fully-vaccinated, is not allowed to enter Beth El for 10 days following symptom onset, unless that person tests negative for COVID and is symptom free for 24 hours; and,
  • A note regarding travel: Vaccination status does not exempt even fully-vaccinated individuals from the New York State quarantine requirements following travel. If you travel, please familiarize yourself and comply with these requirements before entering Beth El.
