COVID PRECAUTIONS AND PROTOCOL/IN-PERSON SERVICE GUIDELINES      As always, health and safety are our priority. We are taking many measures to make this year’s High Holidays as safe and healthy as possible. Please remember the following:

  1. All those attending ANY Beth El services on Beth El’s campus, if eligible, must be vaccinated and have given attestation to having gotten their vaccine.

  2. Beth El reserves the right to ask to see proof of vaccination (and photo ID). Please come prepared with your vaccination card or a photocopy of your card. While observing the holiday, we ask that you don’t use electronics, including cell phones, on the premises. Please plan accordingly if you typically use your phone to show proof of vaccination.

  3. Masks are required for every person over the age of two in the building, regardless of vaccination status, including to use the restrooms. Masks are encouraged for everyone over the age of two in our outdoor services as well.

  4. If you are not feeling well, are sick, or are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID at all, please stay home and join us by livestream. The community’s health and safety relies on all of us doing our part.

  5. Seating in all services will allow for ample space both in between rows and with plenty of aisles. You will not need to wiggle by large rows of people to get to your seats.

  6. Hand sanitizer stations will be available and high touch point areas will be cleaned regularly throughout the day.

EREV ROSH HASHANAH & MINCHA/MAARIV THROUGHOUT THE HOLIDAYS
Rosh Hashanah begins on Monday evening, September 6. Our Mincha/Maariv services on Erev Rosh Hashanah and the first day of Rosh Hashana are open seating, non-ticketed events in our Main Sanctuary. However, we ask that you please sign up for those services using our regular Minyan Form (click here to access the form). Please be sure to add the name of each person attending. This is separate and apart from registration for High Holidays. You are permitted to bring guests to these services; however, at this time of heightened security and in order to be COVID cautious, everyone attending these services must be prepared to show photo identification and proof of vaccination (cards or photocopies of cards only, no Excelsior Pass).

HIGH HOLIDAY CONFIRMATION FORM
If you have not completed your High Holiday Confirmation form, including the vaccination attestation for every person attending services in your family or with your family using extra seats purchased separately, including those who are not eligible to be vaccinated, contact Alise Liquorie (914) 235-2700, ext. 223 ASAP. You will not receive your tickets if this information is not received.

INCLEMENT WEATHER

In the event of rain or inclement weather that will prohibit the use of our outdoor spaces, everyone will be welcomed to seats inside. Outdoor Tent Traditional Service will be invited to the Main Sanctuary, Family Tent Service will be invited to the Kasakove, Torah for Tots will be invited to the Youth Lounge. All COVID protocols pertaining to our indoor services must be followed (see above).

If we enact a rain plan:

Family Service will move to the Kasakove

Teen Service will move to The Den

Tot Service will go to the Youth Lounge

A decision to move locations will be made as late as just hours before the service. Unfortunately there will be no way for us to disseminate that information once the holiday begins. Please plan accordingly.

LIMITED PARKING

This year, in order to accommodate several outdoor service options, to make the synagogue accessible to as many of our members as possible, our parking will be even more limited than in past years. We looked at this issue from every angle, including shuttling people from nearby locations. Nothing was feasible and we are anticipating parking being a challenge.

WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO WALK TO BETH EL IF YOU ARE ABLE, TO PARK IN A FRIEND’S DRIVEWAY, ETC.

Drop off access at the front of our building is available.

Handicap Parking:
All parking spaces available in the front of Beth El will be reserved for those displaying a handicap sticker (first-come, first-served). Please note that some of our parking in the front lot will be unusable due to a tent that will be in addition to the tent in the rear parking lot.

Additional Parking:
Our middle parking lot will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. We will have a parking attendant helping cars pull in and out.

The Wykagyl Shopping Center (CVS) is a privately owned lot, and you may be towed if you park there.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

REMINDER: MEMBERSHIP DUES
As stated in the communication we sent out announcing the new dues structure, receipt of High Holiday tickets was contingent on payment of 50% of your membership dues, and 100% of dues for Enhanced Membership, by today, August 31. Please make every effort to meet this deadline. Thank you to everyone who has already paid and thank you in advance for your cooperation.

SECURITY
Our top priorities are your safety and security, and preserving a healthy environment. We take extra precautions for the High Holidays and thank you in advance for your cooperation. Every family has been required to register for the High Holidays and has needed to confirm their registration. You will receive an email just before the holidays begin that will list the confirmation of your registration, including the names of all people who are registered in your family and any guests that may be attending with you using purchased extra seats. Our security guards will be situated at the entrance of each service and throughout the property. Please print your confirmation page at home and bring it with you, and be prepared to show it to the security guards along with a Photo ID. Allow extra time to enter, as security precautions may result in delays. Beth El reserves the right to check all bags.
