Musical Piece before Kol Nidre begins A message from the Clergy
As we know from our tradition of the Levites who played music in the Beit Hamikdash (the Temple), music can enrich a religious experience in profound ways. For the second year in a row we will have music at Beth El in the Main Sanctuary Service and in the Kasakove Service (two different musical experiences, one for each service). This musical reflection is meant to deepen the kavannah (intention) of our prayers. These two musical pieces will take place before Yom Kippur actually starts. We do not use instruments on Shabbat or holidays here at Beth El, so the pieces will end prior to the time we must begin Kol Nidre. The instruments will be finished and put away before Kol Nidre begins, permissible according to Halacha (Jewish law). Plan to arrive on time and quietly take your seats as we will begin promptly at 6:00pm.
We hope that this musical piece will awaken a song in our hearts, and open us to deeper prayer. We wish each and every one of you a g'mar hatimah tovah (that you should be sealed in the Book of Life), and a 5780 of sweetness and good health.
G'mar Tov,
The Clergy Team
Rabbi Schuck, Rabbi Sitkin, and Cantor Aqua
High Holiday Security Information Please review this information!
Thank you for your cooperation over Rosh Hashanah. Below is a review of our security procedures.
PLEASE COME PREPARED TO SHOW PHOTO ID UPON REQUEST. ALL BAGS ARE SUBJECT TO BE CHECKED BY SECURITY.
With increased security concerns at public institutions, in particular Jewish institutions, we continue to implement a number of secuirty procedures that are designed to enhance our safety. We ask for your cooperation in following the procedures outlined below:
All adults (18 and older) must have a ticket to be admitted for ALL services. Please be prepared to show your ticket when you enter the Synagogue. Photo ID may be requested. Please be preapred.
Children under 18, accompanied by an adult with a ticket, do not need a ticket.
All bags and packages are subject to be checked by our security team.
Please allow extra time to enter the building, security precautions may result in a short delay.
If you forget your ticket...
You will be asked to use the alternate entrance (by the religious school wing). Photo ID will be REQUIRED at this entrance.
All bags and packages are subject to be checcked by our security team.
In order to ensure everyone's safety, these procedures will be followed stringently by our private security firm and we ask for your cooperation and understanding.
In the event that we must evacuate the building, please follow the instructions that will be given by New Rochelle Police and our private security team. Beth El is equipped with an all-building paging system that we can use to broadcast directions. Familiarize yourself with the various emergency exits and evacuation locations. Click here for a list of exits and a map of where you will go in the event of an evacuation.
Parking Our front lot is reserved for those with a state issued handicap sticker or license plate, on a first-come, first-served basis. This will be enforced by parking attendants and we ask for your cooperation.
Beth El's back two lots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the lot is full, cars will be directed to our overflow parking at The Fountainhead.
Holiday Behavior Our clergy work hard to create a meaningful and engaging holiday service. We want to maintain the sanctity of our prayer space. Sound travels easily in our building and we want to preserve a quiet sanctuary. Please keep your voices down when you are in the lobby area. We know the holidays are a time to catch up with family and friends. We kindly ask you to take conversations outside the building (remember you will need your ticket for re-entry). Children should be in a youth service or accompanied by a parent at all times. We thank you in advance for helping us create a space in which all of our members and guests can experience the service in a dignified way.
