Annual Countywide Yom HaShoah Holocaust Virtual Commemoration on Thursday, April 8th, 12-1pm via zoom, in partnership with the Holocaust & Human Rights Education Center. The program begins with sounding of the Shofar and the reading of the Holocaust Rescued Torahs in Westchester that would have joined the procession and will include reflections from Holocaust survivor Endre (Andy) Sarkany and remarks from our Westchester County Executive and representatives of the Westchester Board of Rabbis and Kol Hazzanim. Beth El Yom HaZikaron/Yom Ha'atzmaut Program Join us on Wednesday, April 14th at 8pm for a tekes (ceremony) to mark Yom HaZikaron followed by a special Yom Ha'atzmaut program "Israel through our Eyes" featuring highlights of Israel from Beth El members--including special videos from our youth in Israel!
Westchester Celebrates Israel @ 73 - Israel Independence Day Join WJC virtually on April 15th at 7pm for this annual program featuring a Music Talks concert, “Broadway Corner of Ben Gurion.” This exciting concert will include a celebration of Israel's Independence Day starring singers from Broadway’s “The Band's Visit” and “Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish.” As Broadway theaters have been closed for over a year, this concert will pay tribute to some of the most beloved Broadway tunes sung in Hebrew, which connect to the story of Israel paired with Israel’s most famous musicals such as Kazablan. Journey with JTS, a Four Session Learning Series Megillat Ruth and the Torah of Kindness on April 29, 7:30pm. The Book of Ruth has obvious agricultural links to Shavuot, the festival on which it is read. But is there a connection to Shavuot as the reenactment of Sinai? Through a close reading of the narrative, Rabbi Uhrbach will explore what Megillat Ruth has to teach us about the nature, and even healing, of Torah.
