Director of Elementary Engagement
OVERVIEW
Beth El Synagogue Center, a warm, vibrant synagogue just 30 minutes north of New York City is looking to add a dynamic, talented, and innovative individual to our team to direct and manage the formal and informal elementary education program. The Director of Elementary Engagement will work collaboratively with professional staff, parents and youth to help create educational and spiritual experiences for our elementary aged children and their families. Together with the Director of Teen Engagement, the Director of Elementary Engagement is responsible for deeply engaging our youth, bringing them closer to each other and our community.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Elementary Engagement at Beth El Synagogue Center is a full-time position, responsible for directing and managing the formal education curriculum and program in the Department of Youth and Family Engagement. Responsibilities will include:
- Directing and managing the formal, religious school education program for elementary age students
- Enhancing the middle school education curriculum & experiences in collaboration with the Dir. of Teen Engagement
- Creating and managing budget, tuition, and dues in conjunction with the Director of Teen Engagement
- Overseeing and facilitating Shabbat and holiday youth services
- Implementing opportunities for day school and public school youth and families to interact with one another

The ideal Director of Elementary Engagement candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong interpersonal skills with youth and families
- Ability to communicate appropriately with professional staff, lay leaders, and parents
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team setting
- Ability to create new curricula
- Exceptional Jewish knowledge and understanding of the Conservative movement
- Ability to have a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends
- Master’s Degree in education/Jewish education; other credentials in youth leadership or experiential education a plus
