Ramah and USY Incentive Scholarships Beth El is pleased to offer incentive scholarships for youth and teens going to Ramah sleep away camp or United Synagogue Youth (USY) teen trips across the United States and Israel during this summer. The scholarships are open to Beth El Synagogue members to encourage youth to participate, and are not based on financial need. For a scholarship application, contact Lauren Berger at Lberger422@aol.com. Applications are due by January 25, 2012. USY offers an array of summer trips, and Beth El encourages our teens to participate. Teens who received scholarships from the Teen Educational Experience Scholarship Fund to support their summer 2011trips expressed thanks to the contributors to this fund. For example: “USY on Wheels is an amazing trip that allowed me to make best friends, travel the country, and become in touch with Judaism. It was one of the best experiences I have ever had. I recommend it for everyone.” “I can’t say enough about the great experience I had with USY Pilgrimage. Learning about the history of Jewish life in Poland and the tragedy of the Holocaust was emotionally difficult, but very important. Exploring Israel with USY was amazing. The trip was life-altering for me.” To contribute to this fund, please go to the “Donations” page here and select "Teen Educational Experience New Scholarships (TEENS)"or call the synagogue office, 914-235-2700, ext. 223. Camp Ramah is a sleep away camp with sports instruction, water sports, arts and crafts, and more in a Conservative Jewish community environment of fun and learning. Scholarships to Ramah campers are offered thanks to a generous donation from the Price-Wexler Family Camp Ramah Endowment. Families who have not had a child attend Camp Ramah sleep away, or have attended only one summer are encouraged to apply for a scholarship for up to $1,000 for first-timers, and up to $500 for a second summer. Plan now for a great Jewish summer experience in 2012. |
