Israel Affairs Committee to Present Journalist Joel Mowbray
On October 24, 2010

(scroll down to see the flyer format)

The Israel Affairs Committee will present award-winning investigative journalist Joel Mowbray on October 24th, who will speak on "What Should Be the United States Policy Regarding Israel?"

Mr. Mowbray is best known for his exposé of the State Department. This led to the end of Visa Express in Saudi Arabia, where, prior to and after 9/11, high-level officials in the United States Bureau of Consular Affairs were allowing Saudi applicants an end-run around the visa screening process. One senior official described the program as "an open-door policy for terrorists," which effectively allowed travel agencies in Saudi Arabia to pass out visas. Many Americans, including members of Congress, first heard about Visa Express from Mr. Mowbray’s reporting.

Mr. Mowbray has been a finalist for the National Magazine Award for Outstanding Investigative Journalism, that industry’s “Pulitzer Prize,” and in 2003 won the Eugene Katz award for excellence in immigration coverage. Mr. Mowbray is an expert on Iran, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, and the Middle East’s original democracy, Israel. He is the author of “Dangerous Diplomacy: How the State Department Threatens America’s Security.” Mr. Mowbray’s work has been published in the Wall Street Journal, L.A. Times, National Review, New York Post, Jewish World Review, Washington Times and other leading news publications. Mr. Mowbray has appeared on national television news shows, including ABC’s “Good Morning America” and “World News Tonight.”
The Israel Affairs Committee is pleased and honored to host Joel Mowbray for what promises to be an interesting and informative program.

Sponsors for this program are welcome at $18 and $36 levels, and will be acknowledged in the program. A contribution of $5 will be suggested at the door. Students will be admitted free.
